Board Members

After tryouts, we will ask for a board member from each team formed.  The board members will meet with the directors and bookkeepers in Nov, Jan, March, April to review the finances and decide any policy changes.  A more detailed description of duties, etc. will be included in the short application made available in Nov.

Multisport Athletes

We encourage the multisport athlete as it makes a well rounded player.  However, players who play more than one sport will need to communicate with the coach their commitment level in advance.  They will need to let the coach know as soon as their schedule is released which practices or tournaments they will be unable to attend.

In addition, they will need to pay the full club dues.  We can not prorate dues as our costs aren’t per person.

Injuries and Quitting

We hope that no player sustains an injury or decides to leave the team.  However if this happens, they will still be responsible to pay the full club dues. We can not prorate the cost as we are not charged per person per practice/tournament for our fees.

Payments

Our projected cost for all teams next year is $900.  This is the basic cost and does not include any costs associated with traveling.  If the $900 does not end up covering the cost for the season, an additional amount will need to be collected in the spring after our mid-year budget analysis.  Also if we have over collected we will refund the overage at the end of the season.  Since we operate on a $0 budget and we are nonprofit, we may need to charge more if necessary.

12s will only be $500 and will play in 2-3 tournaments at most.

The fees that we collect cover the following items

  • Coaching Salaries and a small stipend for travel expenses for the coaches for the tournament out of the region.
  • CEVA fees (registration)
  • All tournament registration fees.
  • Gym Usage
  • Players new to Suncats will receive: spandex, warm-ups, & backpack to keep
  • Returning players will use their spandex, warm-ups and backpack from the previous year.  Their number may not match up due to moving teams.  If returning players want new equipment, they can order more at the discounted rate.
  • Each player will receive 1-2 Jerseys that will need to be returned at the end of the season.

Hotels for parents & players and fanwear or additional equipment (spandex, socks, kneepads, shoes, etc.) is not covered in the fees but will be available to purchase at a discounted rate at the beginning of the season.

Fanwear will be available for sale at the parent meeting.

Because there is the option to pay online this year, we will strictly enforce the "no pay, no play" policy. The policy will work as follows:  Payment due dates are listed online and you will receive a coupon book at the parent meeting.  If payments are not received by the due date, a reminder email will be sent the following day.  You will have one week to pay or communicate with the bookkeeper.  If no communication is received within one week, then the coach will be informed that your daughter will be ineligible to practice or play until the bookkeeper has received communication.

If there is an unpaid balance at the end of the season then Columbia Empire Volleyball Association (CEVA) does not allow the family to register for another club until the dues are paid.

Scholarships

We have limited funds available from outside sponsorships for scholarships.  Please download the application from the Handout Link.

SunCat Volleyball Club was originally founded as an opportunity for athletes on the westside of Portland to learn and develop the skills to be successful in competitive volleyball at an affordable cost, while encouraging members to play other sports. The original members of the teams were from the Sunset, Westview, Lincoln, and Liberty attendance boundaries. Since the founding years the club has included athletes from these schools and others from the Beaverton and Hillsboro school districts.

We are now one of the most competitive volleyball clubs on the westside of Portland. We believe that we offer a unique opportunity for our athletes. We are very successful in developing our athletes' physical skills. Beyond volleyball skill development, we stress and develop all-around physical fitness(including flexibility and injury prevention) and provide the finest leadership skill development. Our approach with our club members is a total commitment to each other as members of a team and never putting "self" above the benefit of their teammates. What has developed over the years is an extraordinary sense of "family" commitment to each other.
